Well good evening all

I ran the boat this weekend and the fishing was really good, you should have been there
Let’s start with Saturday we got off the dock and cleared the point at 7:10. We arrived at the islands at 8:45. Our first stop proved to be our best of the day. The yellowtail blew up in the stern and there were two hook ups and we got both of them. we repositioned the boat and to our surprise the yellowtail followed and we pick we pick some more…for our day managed 07 yellow tail 119 barracuda and 33 rock fish…..the barracuda fishing was really god on Saturday. So I knew what I was going to start on Sunday and it was not a bad day over all on Sunday we started off where we left off on Saturday. The fish were there and we immediately got rushed by the skiffs talking about close quarters combat it was funny, its part of the game. We looked around for the barracuda but it seemed they drop off the face of the earth so we went up to north island following another three quarter day boat.. The yellow tail were up there and we hook fifteen fish right off the bat, spinning rods and 20-30 pound yellow tail don’t mix…. As you can see from the counts we would hook a steady three to 4 fish and land 1-2 that really sucked but the anglers were having a blast… we wound up with 18 yellow tail and we went thru I would say 40-50 fish to get the 18 we got and the crew was working hard.  We also manage to capture 3 kelp bass and 1 sculpin.

Hey don’t get me wrong spinning gear is fine if that’s what you want to use but be prepared. I would use nothing less then 20-40 pound test line please leave your lake trout rods at home. I believe our hook to land ratio would have been better if our folks had been better prepared… just some food for thought. With that being said today Monday was much better we had 51 anglers and the day started out were we left of Sunday and not to much happening. Things started off slow we would see the yellow but it look like they were reluctant to par take of what we had to offer. Then all at once I look out the window and see a school of fish blow up in  the stern and it disappeared I thought that was going to be our best shot at them… I got up and then the whole boat went crazy it was like a wave it started at the stern and went to the bow. Next thing you know there are people scrambling to get bait the folks that were hooked on the dropper loops got there fish. Then it was gone, just that quick. And we moved around looking for more. There where to many skiffs. So we left that area and went in search for something different and found some more yellow but they weren’t that eager to bite. So we worked our way in to the east and found what we were looking for.. We wound up capturing for our day 8 rock fish three ling cod 26 yellow tail and 34 barracuda… over all it was a pretty good weekend for fishing…. If you have not done so you might want to make a reservation for the up coming week and weekend… the fishing is only going to get better
