Captain's Profiles
William
H Wilkerson has been in the sport fishing business for 18 years starting
in Santa Monica, California as a deck hand on a half day boat during
the summers.
At
the age of 16, William moved to San Diego where he became a dead
head on the sport boat San Diego with Roy Rose ,
before
joining the crew of Mascot 6 out of H&M Landing where he worked for
two years. He then joined the owner-operator Ray Sobieck on board he
Producer, where for the next 14 seasons he honed his skills as deck
boss.
During
that 14-year span with the Producer, William became one of three
African American Captains in San Diego. He ran as second operator
for four years, learning all facets of the business from how to run
a successful sport fishing operation to providing the best customer
service possible.
Michael
A Schmidt- Has been in the sport fishing industry for 14 years. Starting
in San Diego California, at the age of 13 as a dead head aboard the
half day boat Fisherman III under the direction of Tim Green, Michael
went from dead head to a paid crew member and worked for Tim Green
eight years.
Michael
then worked on the overnight boat the Champ as a deck hand for
two years, then went back to Tim Green after he purchased the Malihini.
Michael has been running the Malihini for 5 years as Captain and
has had his Captains license for 8 years. Michael's experience
as a sport boat Captain on the ¾ day run is invaluable. His knowledge
of the Coronado Islands is second to none.
